Here design studio.

Here are a multi disciplinary design company based in London and have worked with many big and well known clients over time. I was really drawn to their work because everything is very clean cut and produced to the highest standard. Although the work doesn't link directly to the work I am producing from the Fudge Kitchen brief, it gives me a good insight into branding for food products in general, layout and packaging design.

Hairy Bikers
I really like this crisp packaging design that the company produced even though it's highly type based. I think the way in which the type has been laid out makes it visually interesting with less emphasis on the actual text because everything is different and something elements stand out more than others. I particularly like the constrating colours on the blue crisp packet because although they are completely different they work really well together. The fact some of the type has a texture to it is also a nice touch because it gives the whole design depth and an element of sophistication.

Hazelwood
This product was particularly relevent due to the packaging design. I think the concept is really clever and looks very high end which is something you'd expect from the product within. Although the actual box itself is quite simplistic, it's the finish applied to it that give the design more value. Gold foiling especially seems to give an element of quality to a design and the style of the icons above is something that further enhances this. This design has shown me that the smallest details are just as important as the bigger picture.

Fortnum & Mason Honey
This has inspired me to consider the different ways in which the lables for the Fudge Kitchen jars could be printed because originally I was just thinking about a simple sticker design but this is a clear sticker design which works really nicely because it seems as though the actual jar itself has been printed. With a stock like this you also have more of a chance to showcase what is inside the jar through the use of patterns etc like this design has.

Balvenie 40 Year Old
This again, isn't directly linked to what I'm looking at but I loved this design. It makes you consider the importance of thinking bigger when designing packaging and trying something completely different that will make the product itself stand out. Although heavily text based it still really works because the most important bits have been emphasised through size, font or maybe even colour. The text seems to add to the sophistication of this design due to the typeface that has been chosen.

Dock Kitchen
Although a really simple colour scheme has been utilised here I really like the design due to the added texture within the font. I think this is something to consider with my own designs because texture seems to bring depth to a design and really bring it alive. More so than just having print that looks textured with my own designs., actual textured stock should be considered because people like things that are tactile.

Gail's Bakery
This branding for a bakery made me consider the importance of finishes and ways in which elements are applied, again linking back to this idea of the smaller things being just as important as the significant elements. Even if it's just the simple things such as ribbon that are branded, this works really well because it adds a nice personal touch to the design and products.
